Joseph now has a new way to engage with students, teachers, families and communities. His company, LifeSchool Youth Services, LLC was started to bring his signature approach, his story, and his expertise to the masses!
The primary tools used at LifeSchool are 1:1 therapeutic mentoring and group mentoring. Mentoring is one of the proven methods to help youth to re-engage in their education. We train our life mentors to use evidence based practices such as Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Positive Youth Development to decrease challenging behavior and increase positive behavior in students who are struggling in school. Joseph has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, trainer, educator, and mentor. He uses his experiences as disengaged student and high school drop-out to inform LifeSchool's approach to transforming student behavior, supporting teachers, and empowering parents.
Therapeutic Mentoring is a structured, strength-based service with the purpose of helping youth to learn crucial life skills. Services include supporting, coaching, and training youth in character development, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution. Using evidence based practices, LifeSchool Youth Services provides students with one on one mentoring designed to support and reinforce positive behaviors inside and outside of the classroom.
Life Skill and Character Development Groups
LifeSchool provides group-based life skill and character development in school and after school. These groups can provide a positive peer-supported environment for students to learn new skills and improve their lives. Our groups incorporate role play, scenarios, art, music, and other forms of creative expression to engage students in interactive learning that they will carry with them into the classroom and beyond.
LifeSchool Youth Services works with schools to identify struggling students to create customized programs and strategies to prevent school dropout. We partner with teachers, counselors, and families to help students who are disengaged from school and having trouble with attendance and academics due to various issue including: trauma, learning disabilities, and behavioral issues.
